HPDE Car Preparation
We do not require a car inspection, but here are a few tips to prepare for an HPDE.
- » If necessary, change your oil and oil filter. Use a quality, name-brand oil.
- » Check tires for air pressure, tread wear, or damage. Tires will do hard cornering, and tread helps to shed water. Worn tires showing cracks or cord are unacceptable.
Tires may be inflated 5 PSI above the max rating for stiffer sidewall and cornering grip.
- » Brakes will be used a lot so your front pads should not be too thin. If you feel shaking or can hear metalic grinding under hard braking, replace your pads & rotors but if you do so, new pads or rotors should be broken-in (i.e., heat cycle your new pads/rotors).
- » Fill up with gas. Consider a higher octane for knock protection.
- » Remove loose items before arriving or going out on track. Anything that may come loose (in the cabin or trunk) should be
removed.
