The Safety First program helps teen drivers become safer drivers. This program offers hands-on driving exercises on our 2.3 mile road course. A parent (or coach) accompanies their teen driver on skill-developing drills. On-track sessions reinforce a "preventive strategy" to driving, with exercises to develop skills such as:
» threshold braking and collision avoidance
» grip under slippery conditions & skid control
» wide-area focus and situational awareness
» in-traffic safety and closing speed awareness
» highway lane-changing, merging & passing
All exercises are conducted at street or highway speeds, and coaches monitor each student's performance and provide guided feedback to help students focus on specific driving behavior.
