Open Track Laps At Palmer
|
Open Track Laps at Palmer (OT LAPS) is a half-day track program for all drivers. It allows people to drive their own car—at speed—on the racetrack. Driving sessions are based by experience level (novice, experienced, or advanced groups). For novice drivers with little or no track experience, classroom sessions are provided and in-car coaching is available.
OT LAPS Dates
Wed May 28
Wed Jun 25
Tue Jul 15
Tue Aug 19
OT LAPS provides three 20-minute lapping sessions. Typically, there are "touring laps" offerred to attendees (and passengers) to drive on the racetrack at reduced speed (w/o helmets) to see the track.
The novice group always runs separately from the other groups, where the focus is on the fundamentals. The initial
classroom session introduces the basics for driving on a race track:
»
Track safety: Flags, pitting in/out, point-bys
»
Driving: seating, hand-eye-foot coordination
»
Vehicle dynamics: weight transfer, traction.
»
Car placement, consistency, visual focus.
»
What to do in a spin, reacting at speed.
Instructors on a per-session basis are available by request.
Experienced & advanced drivers can expect 3+ sessions and 60+ minutes of track time.
Novice drivers should reviewHPDE school requirements and experienced drivers should know lapping day requirements. For questions, Contact Us.
